To initiate the study, the ELab team and partnering Data Visualization leads are parsing LinkedIn for publicly available data.

We have strategized qualifier tags that we will parse through all listed members of The New School alumni group, Parsons School of Design alumni group, as well as LinkedIn members that list The New School and Parsons School of Design as listed Education. By scanning LinkedIn first for New School alumni status, then by the list of qualified tags we define as indicative of entrepreneurial status, we arrive at a list of study participants that make up the New School Entrepreneurial Genome, which we can further refine based on essential industry keywords and entrepreneurial influence type. We hope to generate a historical and current image of entrepreneurial impact derived from The New School. 

 

 
 

START HERE: TO QUALIFY

1. LIST YOUR EDUCATION or JOIN THE NEW SCHOOL ALUMNI GROUP

LIST THE NEW SCHOOL  or PARSONS SCHOOL OF DESIGN

  • We’re scanning LinkedIn for members that have listed The New School and Parsons School of Design in the Education section on their profile,

  • List what years you attended the New School and/or your graduation date to help us maintain a timeline for our study participants. 

  • We also qualify by default all members of The New School Alumni LinkedIn group as well as the Parsons School of Design Alumni group. These profiles (only those public-facing) are then parsed through our second qualifier detailed in #2 -

  • To map the influence of our alumni entrepreneurs, we want to know the focus of your career. Did you found a fashion design label, are you and artist, or do you work for your own consulting brand?

  • When we qualify you as alumni and as entrepreneur, we will also scan your profile for suggestions that will show us what type of impact you've had, in which industry, with what type of influence - we want to hear IT ALL!
